It is only a few days to go before the pioneers of a future-oriented mobility from all across Europe will gather in Klagenfurt (Carinthia, Austria). The CEMOBIL Final Congress
“SMART(E) Urban Mobility – Today & Tomorrow” from 16 to 17 Sept. 2015
www.cemobil.eu/congress
provides them with an ideal platform to present the elements of a holistic urban mobility in theory and practice, to discuss them and to develop them further.
Quite appropriately, the host, the Department of Environmental Protection of the Capital City of Klagenfurt on Lake Wörthersee, calls this mobility a SMART(E) one, whereby SMART(E) is not only used as a synonym for “intelligent”, but also as an abbreviation for
- sustainable (long-lasting)
- multimodal (distances will be travelled using several means and modes of transport)
- achievable (affordable for everyone)
- rapid (fast, without waiting time when changing transport modes)
- touchable (simple to use and to book along the entire distance via smart phone)
- electric (electric or zero-emission vehicle drive systems)
A highly knowledgeable panel of speakers marks the dawn of a new era:
Paolo Tumminelli: “Notwithstanding all the fine talk about downsizing, it seems that we have still failed to understand that it is not technology that stands in the way of this paradigm shift, but the myth of free and fast mobility. On the contrary, the Smart Mobility of the future will be one thing above all else: Slow Motion, moving at a low pace.”
Weert Canzler – the author of the study “The New world of Transport. Mobility against the background of abundance: Cleverly organised, efficiently, comfortably and sustainably out and about”, on the other hand believes that by 2050, we will be moving completely along the renewable energy track using bioenergetic as well as fuel-cell-based and battery-electric propulsion systems. The overwhelming majority of trips will continue to be made by individual cars. However, to a large extent cars will have become common property and will be available everywhere and at any time, and they will be optimally linked with buses and trains.
20 further speakers will supply the Congress audience with up-to-date and surprising results, experiences and a lot of know-how.
This information event, which is organised as a “Green Meeting”, is divided into two parts – one for an audience of experts and one for the general public. On 17 Sept. 2015, citizens are invited to participate in a workshop on the “Mobility Master Plan Carinthia 2035“, with free admission to the trade fair.
A site visit, an exhibition of sustainable products, test rides with different e-vehicles and an evening reception with the sun setting over Lake Wörthersee complement the eventful and informative Congress.
Interested young talents and poster authors are granted special conditions for attending the Congress.
As the number of seats is limited, registration as soon as possible is recommended at www.cemobil.eu/congress. Contact: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
